The EZ Cube

…construction begins….

I have been working on some new projects since finishing my Masters last month. Myself and my colleague Susanna Kingston have formed a partnership called Kingston Lafferty Design and we have been working on a few corporate jobs. We just finished a piece for Emission Zero. They wanted us to create a bespoke eco-friendly installation to promote their brand as well as up and coming designers. We created a piece called the ez-cube. This was a 2.5m high cube that was comprised of recycled cardboard tubes. The tubes were coloured in the brands colours and were gradiated both in tone and length leading to the central piece which was Emission Zero’s logo. The cube was designed to have high impact on passers by and the strong forms and colours achieved this aim well. The cube was launched at the RDS Dublin at this years Irish Sustainable Building Show. It will reappear at the upcoming Plan Expo Event. All elements of the structure were made from eco friendly materials including eco friendly glue and eco friendly paint. This was part of the brief given to us by Emission Zero, a carbon offsetting and emission consultancy.
