So Renova Flagship Showroom is now complete. It is exciting to see it all done and the final coat of paint added! Donal Murphy has taken more beautiful photographs also. Now that Susanna has moved to London, I will now be basing myself in the Renova offices working as Kingston Lafferty Design….it’s definitely nice to be working in one of your designs! Kingston Lafferty Design will also be teaming up with Renova on a number of jobs going forward. The idea is that Renova with Kingston Lafferty Design will provide a one-stop deep retrofitting service for your home or commercial property. This will include a full design service, full quantity surveying service, full construction, finishing and energy upgrade service. The aim is to remove all of the stress from the home owner and to provide high end results on budget and in a good timeframe.
See Below for a re-cap on the showroom Design:
Renova is a deep retrofit company, established by long term business partners, John Martin and Alan Stevens. Having previously worked with KLD on a residential development, Quantity Surveyor John Martin, approached the design firm to design the new company’s showroom. The brief was to create a space which would successfully portray the company’s services whilst providing a practical working environment for its employees. The main design objective was to ensure that the spatial and technical information was showcased in a way that would be unintimidating, relevant and clear to the average homeowner (the target market). The clean, geometric spatial plan divided up the space into the three sections, with the reception, meeting room and office running the full length on the right hand side, the show home to the front and the technical information to the rear.
The finishes were kept raw yet sharp and professional. The dark grey timber floor contrasts beautifully against the white plaster walls, reinforcing the geometry of the plan. The exposed concrete ceiling mirrors the circulation path, drawing the eye further into the space. The finishes within the show home were carefully considered to ensure the design was individual and current yet inclusive and achievable. The design also included a considerable amount of bespoke joinery, including a walk-in-wardrobe, an island unit, reception and meeting room storage and a media and log storage system for the living room.
While each individual space is defined through materials and finishes, the spaces remain open to one another to maintain a continuous flow throughout the space. The Show House comprises of a kitchen, living room, en suite bathroom, main bathroom and walk-in-wardrobe. A common complaint by Clients is the inability to visualise spaces and relate them to their own homes. For this reason, the scales of the rooms were kept to realistic proportions. The style and finishes within the Show House were carefully considered so that they were inspirational yet achievable. The overall design was kept clean and simple, with strong linear forms which create a neutral yet professional base.
The showroom acts as an important sales tool for Renova. It provides an appealing environment where staff can discuss the benefits of their services and skills and allows prospective customers to get an honest feeling for what Renova does and can provide.
