KLD were tasked with designing the Penthouse showroom with a focus on quality, tactility and timelessness. The refined design appeals to a wide market with a focus on craftsmanship and designer pieces that stand the test of time and eschew trends. The highly functional spaces are cohesively linked through the use of carefully designed joinery and a selection of atmospheric artwork. The overall colour and material palette exude sophistication and luxury in a calm and serene way.

Previously a small square house with box rooms, KLD added excitement and provided the clients with a long lasting home that will adapt to suit their growing family’s needs. The contemporary interior architecture flows over varying levels and provides the clients with an open plan experience.
Delgany Residence is now a beautifully contemporary and light filled home. Joinery design played an important role in this interior architecture project, guiding the user through the space, framing views and subtly disguising storage and utility spaces. The raw and minimal palette offers and timelessness and a blank canvas for the client to showcase their personality within.

The Restaurant and Bar Design awards take place every year in London. Last year our beloved Pot Bellied Pig design won best café at the awards.
This year the Vaults Parlour is nominated in the Heritage category and In Another Space category. The Vaults Live is an innovative and theatrical large-scale tourist attraction located in the heart of Dublin City, offering a unique and exhilarating tour and experience by taking the visitor on a journey throughout the most scandalous and exciting tales of Irish history in a stunningly renovated original four-storey Victorian building. The experience includes stunning 360° sets, state of the art lighting, lavish costumes and special effects.
KLD were appointed to take a creative and inventive approach when designing both the café and retail spaces, continuing the overall immersive theatrical experience whilst delivering a fully considered and highly operational F&B and retail aspect to the business.
Located in the Victorian vaults themselves, our designated area for cafe and retail was a combination of the original building and a much newer contemporary extension design. Here is a look at the two arches which once featured at the front of the building but are now indoors and a focal point of the room, framing the view in both directions.
This is how the arches look now, resplendent and framing the retail area beautifully. The chequered floor, a nod to Alice in Wonderland, exudes the dreamy imagination filled curiosity of the design, rich with exquisite detail. Many of the items you see in the below photo came from the Vintage Hub.
We love how to old works with the new, contrasting, complementing and framing. Our design for the Vaults is already a winner having won Best Fit Out — Retail at the 2018 Fit Out Awards.
Every aspect of this fit out was bespoke, custom designed and made to suit. The budget was tight so collaboration and collaborative creative thinking from both the design and build team was imperative to achieve the high-end result.

Hi, Vicki here, I am just back from London and the launch of a very exciting new range from DFS, So Simple…. With new lifestyles and smaller spaces, DFS have come up with a new way of buying sofas, easy as 1,2,3. Let’s face it apart from your kitchen the next show off thing in our homes is the sofa. Over style, comfort comes first when choosing a sofa but DFS have certainly put both together here.
To briefly go through the concept, it’s a 3-step process
Every So Simple… sofa is then designed and handmade to order. And what’s more, the DFS designers, makers, stitchers and shapers deliver the goods with a 15-year guarantee.
Sofa shopping made easy. But to help a little further I’m going to walk through my top 3 from the event.
Personally, my favourite styles were The Tom, The Mya and The Guy.
The Tom was by far my favourite, it looks compact and neat but what surprised me was that you did sink into it so definitely wins on both style and comfort. It was on display in a leather look, but I think it would have been amazing to see it in the wools or linens, my choice would have been the peacock teal wool.
The Mya was a big hit with everyone there and stunning in the pink linen. Pink is everywhere and it’s losing that tag of just being feminine. KLD recently created a stand for Fleetwood and used the Betsy 1920 palette from Fleetwood’s Vogue range and it was all kinds of sophistication, but a room for everyone. But back to the Mya, A perfect nod to a traditional chesterfield sofa but sleeker with thinner arms making it easier to fit into all sized spaces.
The Guy is definitely the winner for that lounge experience. You literally sink into it. It was displayed in the natural earth velvet which was super soft and luxurious.
I can’t wait to help our CREATE by kld clients see the options in this range. My top tip would be don’t be afraid to mix the styles. I can certainly see a 3-seater Tom positioned alongside two Mya chairs. And play around with the colours and fabrics, the velvets would be lovely mixed with the wools.
I want to say a special thank you to DFS for having us all over and to Niamh O’Carroll from O’Carroll Consulting who organised the Irish contingency and looked after us while we were there.
Thumbs up to DFS for creating this oh so simple way to shop for that all important sofa. A perfect option for folk who find themselves with smaller spaces to furnish.
