Before & After: London Residence

The brief for this residential project in London was to create a cooking/dining experience that felt like a buzzing restaurant. The aim of the kitchen/dining area design was to add some excitement, fun and design flair within the existing walls of the house, so we divided the large space into three key areas: the main kitchen wall, ribboning island and a dining area.

We brought those same aspects into the living space with pops of colour, punchy patterns and mimicked the ladder from the kitchen into the living room storage wall.

Before & After: South Circular Road Residence

The design of South Circular Road Residence focused on the development of an open plan family living, kitchen and dining area that had a sense of personality to it.

The building was well laid out with lots of natural light, but it lacked character and colour and fun. We kept things light and airy but incorporated more colour. Blue and teal tones were selected to contrast against the subtle wall colour, but also to complement the overall palette of existing items.

The kitchen and living rooms of this family home were a key focus, as they would be the most used spaces within the house. As such, these spaces needed to both functional and fun. The overall aesthetic goal was to create a feeling of calm sophistication in a space that didn’t take itself too seriously.

Before & After: Ranelagh Residence

The Ranelagh Residence was a structurally unsound, conservation project with highly restricted access. Although the property had a generous floor area, the existing layout and rear garden were negatively impacting the usability of the space.

The main objective of the interior design was to maximise the space available and direct as much natural light as possible into the existing property. The entire basement floor level was reduced to improve floor to ceiling height and the rear garden was extensively excavated to allow for the construction of a large conservatory extension. The development of this mid-terrace, Georgian townhouse remains our most challenging project to date!

Before & After: Ballsbridge Residence

The Ballsbridge Residence was a large residential project completed in 2015. KLD were appointed to manage the project both in terms of interior architecture and interior design.

The brief for this space was to combine two adjoining properties and completely reconfigure the interior space. The project also involved an extension to the rear of the building to create a more contemporary, spacious family home.

Bespoke joinery was an important feature of the Ballsbridge Residence, every room features joinery designed by the KLD team.

Circulation was a key consideration for the project – there needed to be a balance between open family space as well as some more private space for mum and dad to relax in.

KLD combined a mix of styles from different eras to create an exciting aesthetic. Salvaged vintage pieces, contemporary furniture and lighting, and custom furniture and lighting were combined to achieve a diverse mix.

In terms of the project overall, the team took a holistic approach to the design. Every decision was considered and discussed to ensure it was the best decision for the client to fit their lifestyle requirements, as well as their aesthetic desires.
