Commissioned by Magell Limited, KLD (Kingston Lafferty Design) were tasked to lead the interior design of Urban HQ in Belfast, Ireland. The 30,000 sq. ft building in the heart of the city is a design led co-working workspace with 500 desks located across eight floors.
Urban HQ is the first of its kind in the city and the clients wanted something that stood out and caught people’s attention, surpassing users’ expectations and delivering above and beyond. KLD were chosen to partner on the scheme based on their creative approach and diverse portfolio of work across different sectors. The brief was to create a space that offered a warm and welcoming experience to all visitors, a space they wanted to spend time in; differing from traditional office environments and the experiences within them.
With an air of refined sophistication, this design encapsulates elegance, timelessness, and quality with a considered sensitivity to the material palette. We added depth of texture with the strong material palette, deliberately contrasting tone, pattern, and texture adding subtle surprises with a balance of masculine and feminine form. A rich and diverse selection of materials were used to layer up the various spaces, distinguish between levels and overall create the atmosphere and visual identity of the building.
First impressions are crucial for brand perception and brand experience. As such, the reception and overall ground floor layout is crucial to the success of the project. Leading the user through the space upon entry, we sought to deliberately frame their view and focus their attention on the journey and experience through the space.
