Established Pan Asian restaurant and take away chain Tootoomoo, commissioned KLD for their Interior Design expertise for the opening of the doors to their new restaurant in Whetstone London. The tootoomoo Restaurant project was shortlisted for International Project of the Year at the 2015 Fit Out Awards.
The inspiration for the new restaurant comes from a mix of Asian influences including the bustling streets of Bangkok with its street markets, the well-known Singapore Shophouse Architectural style, as well as Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese influences.
Authentic ethnicity was integral to the interior design (and also the food) and this was found using the right balance of Asian influence, which marries with the sophisticated London surroundings.
The framed view of the kitchen lends itself to showcasing the inner workings of the restaurant with the chefs encouraging customers to peer in from the nook seating area to feel part of the action, ensuring delicious food is central to the restaurant vibe.
The back of the restaurant provides intimate dining experience perfect for small groups. Low custom made hanging basket lights, rich teal banquette seating, distressed timber panelling and a mirrored cocktail bar create the balanced authentic sophistication.
