Residential, Commercial
Marianella is a beautiful and luxurious development in Rathgar, Dublin City. KLD were tasked with designing the Penthouse showroom with a focus on quality, tactility and timelessness. The refined design appeals to a wide market with a focus on craftsmanship and designer pieces that stand the test of time and eschew trends. The highly functional spaces are cohesively linked through the use of carefully designed joinery and a selection of atmospheric artwork. The overall colour and material palette exude sophistication and luxury in a calm and serene way.
With this design there was a strong focus on tactility, with soft calm tones throughout the space. Layering up materials with a mix of fabric textures and timber wall cladding details was integral to the design. We wanted to create a sophisticated yet warm and inviting space that had depth and texture.
Carefully designed joinery plays a role within each space, the panelling details add a richness to the bright and welcoming hallway. These deep rich walnut tones lead to a more masculine and refined home study space with both hidden and display storage while smoked mirrors bounce the light in a subtle way.
Custom joinery headboards were designed for each of the bedrooms, combining mirror, walnut and the softness of textiles in the upholstery. The bench and display storage joinery piece in the living space, provides an additional seating area.
Artwork played a key role in the decoration and design of the apartment, large scale atmospheric pieces were used throughout to give context to the project as an apartment in Ireland, with pieces from artists/photographers like Hugh O’Connor, Richard Gorman and John Redmond.
The colour palette is soft and earthy, with the deeper tones exuding a grey earthy base. We wanted to frame the view to the beautiful mature trees surrounding the apartment, maximising on the large-scale windows in the living and dining spaces. We used soft and delicate curtains, which also maximised on both privacy and natural light.
The muted tones in the bedrooms are complemented by the richness of the walnut flooring and joinery details, as well as the natural texture in the upholstery, the luxurious blanket lined curtains, and rich rugs beneath the beds.
