Kingston Lafferty Design was delighted to be part of this transformation of Donnybrook Residence, a beautiful three-storey red brick Victorian house with beautiful proportions, charm and elegance.
Our client had keen interest in travel, art and socialising and her home was to be an expression of this and overall a happy and vibrant space.
We looked at the space holistically and improved the circulation and journey by reconfiguring the interior architecture. Starting with the ground floor, we opened up the utility by changing a window to a door and improving accessibility to the garden. We also changed the windows and doors in the kitchen/lounge space to frame the views to the garden and to link all the rooms to the garden better.
We designed custom panelling and joinery to house a cocktail bar in the dining room and display storage in the living room. We added curves to these for a more playful feel. From the dining room, we designed a tiered, tiled terrace and designed metal and glass doors to lead out to the garden.
We designed the landscape architecture to be a visible extension of the indoor space to maximise the feeling of space and to brighten up the place on dark and rainy days.
Upstairs, we reconfigured the master bedroom, eliminating one spare room and instead creating one large master suite which encompasses a generous bedroom, walk in wardrobe and en-suite.
Aside from the interior architecture work, there was a full renovation of the whole house and garden carried out. We designed everything in the space with lots of custom joinery, panelling, kitchens, furniture design etc. All finishes were replaced and we incorporated a lot of custom concrete elements in both the kitchen and en-suite.
